Keon Jenkins was born on November 15th, 2006. He was incredibly smart and entered into the gifted program at Kenwood Middle School in the 6th grade. He loved to learn, fish, play football and help others. Most of all, he loved his family. He was really great with kids. He loved spending time with his niece and younger cousins. His smile was contagious. As was his laughter. He loved talking to others. He would make a friend out of a complete stranger.
Behind his smile however was a hidden pain that none of us can fully know or understand. At just 18 years old, Keon lost his battle against mental illness.
This foundation was created and is supported by individuals who knew that he had a bigger purpose in this life. We refuse to let him become just another statistic.
Despite rising mental health challenges, over 60% of young men with depression never seek help, often due to the persistent stigma that associates vulnerability with weakness — a dangerous belief that silences too many before they receive the support they need. Keon’s legacy in this world will seek to change that.
Every life saved through spreading awareness is a victory against silence, stigma, and shame. We love you Keon. We promise to carry on your name.
Mrs. Karas used to tell you over and over: “Use your powers for good Keon”. Together with you watching and helping us from Heaven, we will do just that.
